I wish to humbly express my heartfelt gratitude to all who believed in and supported my candidature during this 2011 election. This victory is clearly representative of the trust bestowed on me from the people of Ernakulam along with their deep belief in my abilities to serve society and bring positive change to our lives. Having emerged triumphant with a considerable margin, I now modestly reflect on the immense responsbility handed to me and redouble efforts to meet the expectations from all quarters. This achievement has not been easy, but also the result of hard work and efforts by many party co-workers, advisors, friends and well wishers who deserve due credit. Thinking about the present and into the future, my focus remains on the commitments towards the people of Ernakulam and I shall strive to bring much needed transformation to the region.

Thank you all once again and let us continue working together to make change happen.

Jai Hind.

Voting perhaps is one of our least exercised fundamental rights; however it is what determines our future and defines the circumstances we live in. During the 2004 elections in the Ernakulam constituency, figures indicate that voter turnout was the lowest recorded in Kerala at 61% and later in 2009 increased to 69.46%.

Our objective is only to urge voters to exercise your franchise, learn more about your candidate’s vision for the constituency, qualifications and background which will enable you to make an informed choice. This campaign is targeted at the eligible voter who does not exercise his/her political franchise out of apathy, mistrust in the system or simply ignorance. There is no doubt that the most vibrant aspect of our democracy is that each one of us can collectively determine our future; with each vote being a voice that reflects intelligence and responsibility to yourself and the society at large.

We humbly seek your active participation during polling on the 13th of April 2011. Should you have any queries regarding voting procedures or locations under the Ernakulam assembly constituency; do call on the voter helpline number # 9633856008. (Active from 12th April)

Define your future…cast your vote..!!!

Shri. Rahul Gandhi (AICC General Secretary) visited Ernakulam and addressed a gathering at Rajendra Maidan. Speaking out against the Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule in Kerala, he commented that growth and industrialisation had not been a priority for the ruling state government. Moreover, the Communist Party valued it’s organisation more than the people and used violence both against UDF workers and the common man. He added that “The UDF believes in looking after the aspirations of the people. We don’t believe in using violence. We will push for aggressive economic development in the State. UDF will also distribute the benefits of growth equally among the poor “.
Rahul Gandhi extended support to Hibi Eden’s candidature by expressing faith in Eden’s abilities and commitment to serving the public. Moreover, having worked closely with him through the National Students Union of India (NSUI); Hibi Eden’s character of being an upright change-maker would bring positive development to Ernakulam.

After the event at Rajendra Maidan, Hibi Eden resumed his routine campaigning program and visited the T.D Temple locality in Ernakulam where he interacted with the populace. Visiting Karithala Colony near the KSRTC stand later, he commented that only economic growth will improve people’s lives.

Hibi Eden paid homage to Cardinal Mar Varkey Vithayathil who lay in state at the St. Mary’s Basilica and expressed profound sadness on his passing.

Shri. Hibi Eden’s campaign continues garnering support from all quarters of the Ernakulam assembly electorate. Hibi Eden in the morning began by visiting ‘providence house’ for the aged on SRM road and then proceeded to Cheranalloor. During campaigning, he visited all localities in the Cheranalloor panchayat and expressed to communities his deep desire to bring development, progress and growth in Ernakulam. Pointing out drawbacks of the LDF government, he stated that Kerala has lost years of economic growth and development as a result of communist rule. While our neighbouring states such as Andhra, Tamilnadu and Karnataka have grown manifold in terms of revenues and foreign investment, Kerala still languishes with a yet to be realised Smart City project.

The campaign was inaugurated in the morning by Shri. M.R Abilash (District Congress Committee Secretary). Shri. Eden was joined by several prominent congress representatives from the area, friends, NSUI colleagues and well wishers from Delhi, Maharashtra and Haryana. The programme culminated near Chittoor, where localities and supporters joined together with fireworks and musical fanfare.

On inaugurating the programme at Kompara, KPCC President Shri. Ramesh Chennithala commented that Ernakulam’s progress and development was a top priority for the UDF government in Kerala. Shri. Hibi Eden expressed his viewpoint on growth as one centered around people’s participation in planning and implementing developmental work. Ernakulam is on its way to becoming a globally recognized destination for shipping and IT apart from other commercial opportunities in the coming years. In order to grow equitably, there needs to be a long term vision backed by a socially inclusive approach in decision making. Other congress leaders, Shri. H.E Mohamed Babu Sait, Shri. M.I Shanavaz (MP), Shri. Charles Diaz, Shri. Mohandas (Thrikanarvattom Mandalam president), Shri. K.V.P Krishnakumar, Shri. P.C Iype, Shri. Lino Jacob and Shri. Loudy Louis participated and spoke on the occasion.

later in the afternoon, Hibi Eden briefly visited the South Mandalam and then returned to Vaduthala to resume the roadshow. The programme concluded in the presence of Shri. Jagadish (noted Malayalam actor) who commented that only the UDF can bring peace, and harmony to the citizens of Kerala regardless of religious/ political ideology and social circumstances. He also stated that during the coming elections, UDF will garner votes from those people seeking progress and development regardless of their independent political thoughts.
